Chiropractic Hadley, MA

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. Chiropractic services are used most often to treat back pain, neck pain, joint pain in the arms or legs, headaches and other conditions. Doctors of Chiropractic practice a hands-on, drug-free approach to health care. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling. Chiropractors, through clinical examination and diagnostic imaging, will determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate or when it is not appropriate. We will readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition or the condition warrants co-management in conjunction with other healthcare providers.

One of the most common and well known therapeutic procedures performed by doctors of chiropractic is a spinal manipulation (sometimes referred to as a “chiropractic adjustment”). The purpose of spinal manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for an individual. Manipulation, or adjustments of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, allowing tissues to heal properly.

Dr. Ringrose uses mainly Diversified Technique as well as Thompson Drop Table and Activator to manipulate the joints. She also incorporates modalities such as ice/heat packs, traction table, ultrasound, electric muscle stimulation, soft tissue mobilization and therapeutic exercises as part of a treatment plan to aid in the healing and recovery of her patients. She also uses 3D Model Foot Levelers orthotics to help balance and stabilize the spine from the ground up.
